For some context for those under 40 .. Up until around 10-15 years ago.. Whenever there was a major news event, TV Stations would cut into whatever program you were watching with an “Urgent Update” from their “Newsdesk” .. And sometimes it seemed they “cut-in” every few minutes.. incessantly.. with NO new information…Annoying..
This reached a frenzy in 1981 when Pope John Paul II was shot. Any show you were watching was pre-empted or cut into, every few minutes because the self-important “news guys” thought that is what you HAD to watch..
Back when Saturday Night Live was funny… They did a bit where the Little Rascals character Buckwheat (Eddie Murphy) was shot .. For the rest of the show, all the skits got cut into with, “Buckwheat has been shot. Have you seen the ACTUAL footage”
They pinned the murder on John David Stutts (also played by Murphy) which was a multi-spoof on Lee Harvey Oswald.... and the odd practice of the loser media calling serial killers by their full name..
The episode aired March 19, 1983 .. So, Happy Birthday .. The following week, they brought back the bit with John David Stutts being shot on camera like Lee Harvey Oswald..

The Trump administration announced a 60-day waiver of Jones Act shipping regulations to help ease deliveries of fuel and fertilizer to combat rising prices and supply disruptions caused by the conflict in Iran.

And the Ratings say……… The 98th Academy Awards were another ratings flop… They drew just 17.9 million viewers on ABC and Hulu (Out of 350 Million Americans.. and around a Billion English speaking people with a TV).. .. That’s down ANOTHER 9% … and that’s even with the likable Conan O’Brien hosting..
NOTE TO ACADEMY: The world has changed.. Stars are accessible all day, every day online.. There are no longer just 3 networks and a few movie studios that produced, “Stars” that everyone in America knew .. Now, 90% of America doesn’t know who half of the Netflix or Streaming “stars” are because they don’t subscribe to that Stream..
Shake it up.. SPLIT it up .. Instead of ONE big event.. Have THREE.. Make them ONE hour long instead of the long boring mess.... Breakdown: Feature length films .. TV or streaming shows/series .. and Short Form films/Internet Videos/Influencer type stuff .. Each audience might be smaller.. But together it would ad up to more total audience.. More ad revs.. and More babes on the Red Carpet..
