AMTRAK and the US Postal Service

They are both money pits for the US Taxpayer.

Amtrak loses $750 Billion a year .. The US Postal Service lost $9.5 billion last year.

(In fairness to the people running the USPS, they have BILLIONS in pension liabilities and Congress mandates they “pre-fund” retiree health benefits. Which cost $3 Billion last year)

I’ve written in the past to just shut down the US Postal Service. Fedex and UPS can handle deliveries.. and maybe Amazon, too.

The answer being floated by DOGE (and it’s not a new idea) is to Privatize both Amtrak and the USPS.

At a conference, Elon Musk said, “You’ve got a feedback loop for improvement, is what happens when something’s privatized…Basically something’s got to have some chance of going bankrupt or there’s not a good feedback loop for improvement.”

Another One Bites the Dust: SpaceX launched the eighth test flight of its Starship megarocket yesterday, sending the 403-foot-tall (123 meters) vehicle aloft from its Starbase site in South Texas.

Seven minutes later, Starship's huge first-stage booster, known as Super Heavy, returned to Starbase for a dramatic catch by the launch tower's "chopstick" arms. It was the third time that SpaceX has demonstrated this jaw-dropping technique.

This test was supposed to deploy four payloads — dummy versions of SpaceX's Starlink internet satellites — on its suborbital trajectory about 17.5 minutes after liftoff before coming in for a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean off of Western Australia roughly 50 minutes later.

That didn't happen, however. Several of Ship's six Raptor engines conked out toward the end of its ascent burn, and the vehicle began to tumble. SpaceX lost contact with Ship about nine minutes into the flight, and it presumably detonated high in the sky shortly thereafter. .. Flaming debris was seen over the Bahamas .. HERE.. HERE..

UKRAINE AID: The European Union has failed to agree on a new €30 billion ($32 billion) military aid package for Ukraine after Hungary vetoed the measure at an emergency European Council meeting in Brussels yesterday. Despite broad support from the other 26 EU members, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked the leaders’ statement

”It talks about Ukraine needing to be strengthened so that it can fight even further. And Hungary, of course, did not support it because this was completely contrary to our position in favor of peace,” Orban told reporters. .. Which sounds reasonable to me ..

IN DA SWAMP:

Trump will pause the tariffs on Mexico and Canada for everything that falls under the USMCA until April 2 ..

He said he had a call with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and they will work together to stop illegal aliens and fentanyl coming into America.

I gotta tell ya .. Markets….Companies .. They can handle tariffs .. What they DON’T handle well is uncertainty. Make a decision.. and DO IT .. Stop flip flopping..

The House censured Texas Rep. Al Green with 10 Democrats joining the Republicans.

Green was thrown out of the speech Tuesday night for standing and shouting at President Trump. But, not before a group of about 10 Democrats held up the Censure procedure by singing songs in support of Green. (Basically, doing the same thing Green did. Ignoring the Speaker’s call of order) ..

Green’s behavior was childish and stupid. But, I don’t think it’s going to change him or keep him from doing crap like that in the future. Censure only has an impact if you have character and feel shame. There aren’t many like that left in the swamp…

Rep. Andy Ogles is getting a list of those Democratic Reps that participated in the “attempted censure shutdown” from the Sgt. at Arms and will introduce a motion to have them stripped of their Committee positions.

Case Dropped? .. Hunter Biden has requested a federal judge to dismiss his 2023 lawsuit against Garrett Ziegler, a former Trump administration aide, citing significant financial difficulties. The lawsuit accused Ziegler of illegally accessing and disseminating personal data from Biden's laptop, violating California's computer fraud laws.

Why? Because, Hunter says he is broke and cannot afford to continue to litigate. He says no one is buying his book. That no one is buying his art anymore. .. His says his house burned down in the Pacific Palisades (it didn’t).. he is millions in debt … Huh, who’d have thought that when his dad retired no one would buy his art?? .. Go Figure…

Ziegler’s position? “Hunter wants to cry uncle. We are OPPOSING that. We want our attorney’s fees to be paid, for Hunter to cease lying about us and me, and just generally to shut the f–k up” .. Ummm.. That seems fair..

The OTHER guys are in Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Open where the scores are lower .. Kevin Roy is at -10 one shot ahead of Chris Gotterup ..

NHL: The NHL trade deadline is 3pm today .. Some moves .. The Avalanche pick up Brock Nelson from the Islanders .. The Tampa Bay Lightning trade for Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand ..They are also getting a 2026 fifth-round pick. Going back to Seattle is Mikey Eyssimont, the Lightning’s 2026 first-round pick and other draft picks ..

CELEBRIDIOTS:

RUH ROH Blake (and Ryan) .. When there is a court case there is a process called, “discovery” where you need to turn over evidence requested by the “other side”. In the “Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni” lawsuit .. Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds don’t want to turn over their text messages because they are afraid they will be leaked…

RUH ROH.. Sounds like someone might have been dissing their “A-List friends” over text !!! .. and they don’t want the world to see !!! .. The judge will rule what has to be given over.. and who gets to see it.. But, BOY could this get messy ..

Megan Markle’s “Martha Stewart like” Netflix show called, “With Love, Meghan” is out.. and.. Believe it or not .. people are watching it .. But, after seeing some of the reviews? .. Oh my … I don’t think they will be watching episode 2 .. IMDB 2.7 out of 10.. and.. “It’s not even worth a ‘hate watch’”

This one kinda sums up the reviews.“ ‘With Love, Meghan’ is a masterclass in how to waste Netflix money. What do we get? Her pretending to be relatable, and trades banalities with B-list guests like Mindy Kaling. This isn’t a lifestyle show, it’s a 40 minute infomercial for her ego” .. Umm.. “OUCH” doesn’t cover how bad it is…

Singer Jessie James Decker .. HERE .. said she "Likes her body better today than when she was 23” (I guess that was pre-implants?) ..HERE.. .. Actually, she was talking about how she’s been working out hard since her 4th baby was born and feels great… and strong .. Which is awesome.. Good for her ..
