Anyone living in the Northeast for the past week knows the Canadian Wildfires have blanketed us with a think layer of smoke/smog. Some days, it’s apocalyptic-looking.

I’ve made jokes with friends about it.. “The Great White North? -My Azz !!” and that “sales of Marlboro Reds are gonna be down.. No one needs them”

There is ashy stuff on cars.. It’s really a mess ..

As he is wont to do, President Trump went a little further ..

Trump spoke to Mark Carney, the Canadian Prime Minister at the FIFA World Cup final that they both attended on Sunday.

“I told him, I mean, ‘You got to stop these fires from coming in and, you know, poisoning our air..’

Later at Joint Base Andrews reporters asked him about it.. he said… “Our air has been poisoned….Have a good relationship with Mark Carney, but you know we got to stop the fires up there. If we can help them, we’ll help them. But maybe they should pay us some damages or something, or we should do some tariffs.“

HAHAHAH…. Stop the fires.. Change the wind direction.. or.. I dunnno… TARIFFS !!!!

Gotta say.. BOTH sides have been using drones to hammer oil and gas facilities .. Which DOES cripple some military capability.. But it REALLY screws the citizens .. Energy shortages (on both sides) .. Prices skyrocket.. There headed toward rationing.. and.. When winter comes? People are gonna die of the cold..

FRANCE: Oui, nous aussi. … France is moving toward banning social media access for children under 15, following other EU countries.. I gotta say.. One part of me is screaming, “Get the FCKIN Government OUT of our lives” .. and the other part of me is saying, “Yeah, it’s really unhealthy for 13 year olds to be on their phones 90% of their waking hours”

NEW YORK: Some whack-a-doo started a fire near an entrance of 26 Federal Plaza yesterday. It ignited fireworks causing smoke and a small explosion. Then he threatened people with what appeared to be airsoft/pellet gun or rifle. He was pulling a cart with an anti-ICE message (”ICE off our streets”) containing more fireworks and items

SUPREME COURT: UNFAIR!! .. The Supreme Court will hear a case with strong implications for 8th Amendment protection. (Prohibits Government from imposing excessive fines, excessive bail, and cruel and unusual punishment)

Quick Synopsis: Alaska is very rural and from many remote towns you take a prop plane to get to the nearest “bigger town” to get groceries and other stuff. Alaska has a problem with alcoholism in these remote towns. So, some have strict rules about bringing in alcohol. Ken Jouppi operates an “air taxi” service. He was flying a woman back to her remote town. When the plane landed, authorities saw a six pack of beer in the plane. This was a violation of the “no alcohol imports”. He was “convicted” of the offense.

So, they took his plane. .. The town argued that he violated this ordinance before and he would continue to if he had his plane. Ken argues that since the plane is worth $90,000 that it’s “an excessive fine” under the 8th Amendment. (Which, a reasonable man would agree with) .. The town argues it’s allowable and necessary given the gravity of the alcohol issue and the fact the plane could continue to “harm” the local citizens.

Lower court said, “Excessive Fine” .. Appeals court sided with the town ….Now… The Supreme Court will hear the case ..

Can they SAVE the SAVE ACT?

The House passed it twice this year, but Senate Republicans like Lee and Marsha Blackburn face a Democratic filibuster and need 60 votes, with opposition from Sen. Lisa Murkowski over burdens on Alaska's remote communities. Proponents cite strong public support for photo ID, while critics warn of barriers for rural voters, as passage odds drop amid recess pressure.

As with MOST legislation over the past decade .. The problem is not with the “Core” idea that you should need to PROVE citizenship in order to register to vote … The hangups are over “mail-in voting”. Dems want it on demand, This Act says only with need and only if voter requests a ballot be sent. .. Also, state must share their voter roles so that they can be checked against the “illegal immigrant” list and the “they are dead” list ..

Anyways… The Senate will try to pass it this week .. But, it doesn’t look good .. and with vacations and breaks coming up .. and mid-terms .. If its not now, it might be pushed to 2027 ..

and..

The Treasury identified 4,900 dead people that were getting checks from the government. Since implementing a government-wide payment verification process last year, they have now halted $100 million in payments..

Now, that is a pittance when you have a $39.5 Trillion dollar debt… But, it’s a START..

SPORTS:

GOLF: As happens in professional golf… Win or lose, after the tournament… You’re on a plane to the next tournament.. Many times, with OTHER PGA Tour golfers… Because, you are all going to the same city for that week. (The Top Dogs like Rory and Scottie are probably flying private.. but.. that’s a different story)

Well, Some people on the flight from Manchester to London saw some PGA TOUR golfers .. One of them was Open Winner Ryan Fox with the Championship Trophy in the overhead !!! (The Claret Jug) ..HERE.. Which was cool.. except for one kinda uncomfortable thing… The guy Ryan beat by one shot, Cam Young, was sitting DIRECTLY in front of him !!!!

On to Minnesota for the 3M Open …

Also Golf: The SENIOR British Open is this week at Gleneagles in Perthshir, Scotland. Zach Johnson and Stewart Cink are your Favorites .. If you prefer a “Links” golfer, there’s Padraig Harrington..

CELEBRIDIOTS:

Sunny Hostin is one of the “co-hosts” on the Screaming Yentas show … Her son was being arrested and she is on camera trying to get him out of situation .. She said, "My name is Sunny Hostin, and I'm one of the co-hosts of 'The View' and I'm a former federal prosecutor."

Gotta be fair … Some are calling this the “typical entitled jerk-celebrity” DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM thing… But.. It’s not like she is trying to get out of a speeding ticket.. or get into an exclusive party or club… She is a mother trying to get her son out of an arrest .. And it was a “trespassing on Metro-North railroad propert” charge.

So.. I’m calling, “Just being a mother.. trying to help her son” .. No major scandal here..
