RUSSIA/UKRAINE: So, You’re Sayin’ there’s a chance !!!
Peace between Russia and Ukraine is possible only if Kiev abandons its plans to join NATO and acquire nuclear weapons, and recognizes the new borders of Russia, according to the head of the country’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergey Naryshkin.
Naryshkin reiterated to reporters that Russia has not changed its strategic goals in the Ukraine conflict. “The conditions of a peace agreement include, certainly, the non-nuclear, neutral status of Ukraine, the demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian state, and the repeal of all discriminatory laws adopted after the coup d’état in 2014,” he said

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has submitted a bill to extend martial law in the country by another 90 days, which would rule out any chance of a new presidential election being held within that time frame.
Zelensky – whose presidential term expired almost one year ago – has repeatedly cited martial law as a pretext for refusing to hold a new election. Russia has declared Zelensky “illegitimate” as a leader, insisting that the Ukrainian parliament remains the only legal authority in the country.

PUERTO RICO: The Island was hit by another massive power outage leaving the United States territory in the dark for a second time in four months. Local power authorities, Genera and LUMA, recorded a system failure at approximately 12:40 p.m. that affected service island-wide.
In a post on X, LUMA Energy said it could take two to three days to restore service to 90% of customers -- and that the priority for now is to restore power to critical facilities, such as the Centro Médico hospital in the capital San Juan.
Officials, like Governor Jennifer Gonzalez and NY Rep Torrez complain that 3 million Puerto Ricans have to suffer with power outages despite paying high rates for electricity. Oh Yeah? .. Well, How about you FIX the Problem?
Political corruption and waste are the reason .. and power generation is mostly in the area of the island away from the population.. and has to run on long, old, badly maintained lines. It’s NOT a secret. It’s NOT a mystery. But, the “leaders” continue to fail the citizens …

CALIFORNIA: Is there hope for the LA Times?
The LA Times kept becoming increasingly irrelevant .. Partially, because of people getting their “news” from social media .. and partially because they became a left-wing echo chamber..
The new (ish) owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong is trying something new .. In their left wing Editorial and Opinion sections you have the option to click an “Insight” button and get a “rating” (like “Center-Left”) or read an AI Generated “Opposing Viewpoint” ..
The funniest part of this? .. The reactions of writers and “former editors” like Mariel Garza, the former editorials editor, who quit when Soon-Shiong refused to endorse Kamala Harris.
“I think it could be offensive both to readers ... and the writers themselves who object to being categorized in simple and not necessarily helpful terms,” she said. “The idea of having a bias meter just in and of itself is kind of an insult to intelligence and I’ve always thought that the readers of the opinion page were really smart.”
HAHAHAHH…. Yeah .. It’s terrible because it’s objective… and not conceited, elitist garbage like you put out!!!

BOSTON: Does the IRS read the RANT???
The Internal Revenue Service is making plans to rescind the tax-exempt status of Harvard University, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
A final decision on rescinding the university’s tax exemption is expected soon, the sources said.
The administration already has blocked more than $2 billion in funding from the nation’s oldest university, which is fighting the White House’s policy demands, citing the constitutional right of private universities to determine their own teaching practices.
Of course, private universities CAN and SHOULD determine their own teaching practices .. But, they cannot violate statutes .. and have no “right” to government money or preferred tax status ..
I watched a rep of Harvard for a few seconds on TV “complain” that the Federal Grants are not for operating Harvard but for things like “cancer research” … Sure.. as if ONLY Harvard does that ..
If the government halts that funding to Harvard, PLENTY of other research labs and universities .. Including the TOP ones like MD Anderson/U of Texas .. or Sloan Kettering.. will keep on doing their work.... So.. sorry Harvard .. the USA will do JUST FINE without giving you Billions in tax dollars ..

Biden reminisced about the reason he got into politics was that he remembered “being a kid and seeing colored kids on the bus going to a different school.” … Really, Joe? “Colored” ?? What color were they?
He talked about social security and joked that he wanted to meet some of these “300 year old people that Musk found.. I wanna ask them how to live that long” … Which was KINDA funny.. But, C’mon Joe .. You’re not in very good shape NOW .. You’d run out of Depends LONG before that…

NY Congressman Elise Stefanik is considering a run for NY Governor. While NY Governor Hochul is not very popular at the moment.. I am not sure I see a path for Stefanik.. .. Trump is a big fan of Stefanik and would help her… But, NY is just too left .. Things would have to get way worse there before a Republican could get elected…
